Richard Siccardi was born in South Africa. He moved back to Vigevano, Italy in early age. He started as a pattern maker in a factory which manufactured products of Versace, Missoni, Max Mara, Mario Cerutti, etc. Soon afterwards, he served as a collection developer in the factory, which produced for international brands such as Manolo Blahnik, Christian Loubotin, and many others.

After dedicating 10 years as pattern maker and collection developer, he decided to take a turn in his career by sharing his experiences as professor in Ars Sutoria, a well-known pattern making school at Milan and since then, he has approximately 1000 students all over the world.

In 2012, Sarah Flint, a New York-based designer, convinced him to be her production manager. His duty was to help Flint launch her first brand. Few months later, Flint launched her first luxury women footwear brand, which became a major success, and started to receive media exposure. In addition, she received numerous requests from high-end department stores in New York. The massive workload between brand and school spurred Richard to consider building up a team which provides stronger support. In the same year he met Shaowei and discovered their mutual vision on shoe design. Four years later, they decided to found Arise.S together.
